There is a certain type of male archetype that seems to never disappear. The self-obsessed, blustering, overconfident buffoon that is seen as extremely charismatic by some, but makes life difficult for everyone else, is a well known cliché, and results from his actions are predictably almost never benefiting anyone but him, if he’s lucky.

George Armstrong Custer seems to have been one, but these guys all resemble each other. There are e.g. several in modern populist politics, and the idea of being at their mercy is not something we, who are immune to his charm, are able to cherish.

‘Long Hair’ was a bit of a chancer who got himself and his brother and several hundred others killed at Little Big Horn. Is there a Big Horn awaiting these new Fannys and their followers too? What will these last stands be?

Fanny is on the prowl again
eager to revive his last grand stand
gather the prarie nations, it’s on again
what lunacy can the system sustain?

Long Hair is charging one more time
eager to pursue the pantomime:
‘great leader’, ‘elder statesman’
it’s on again
unite the ineffectual nations
what lunacy can the system sustain?

while nations tremble, rue the day they elected
the mad moon child of the morning star
a house divided by a childman who thinks he’s a tzar

200 years spent asleep in a daydream
200 years was the window we got
in 4 more years he’ll render it all for naught
